Renewable Energy Is Even Bigger In Texas
Texas leads the nation in the development of renewable energy and has more wind generation capacity than any other state. Rounding out the top five are Iowa, California, Minnesota, Washington and Oregon.
Roscoe, Texas is now home to the world’s largest wind farm. This project was recently completed by E.ON Climate and Renewables (EC&R). The Roscoe wind complex has an installed capacity of 781.5 megawatts (MW), generating enough electricity to power more than 230,000 homes.
Wind power is the fastest growing energy source in the world, with E.On one of the most significant players in the wind industry throughout the U.S. and Europe.
Renewable energy sources are energy sources that are continually replenished. Other renewable energy resources include biomass, hydropower, geothermal, solar, wind, ocean thermal, wave action, and tidal action.
The Roscoe wind farm project took more than a billion dollar investment, coordination between more than 300 landowners and management of more than 500 workers. As our economy limps towards recovery, the question still remains whether renewable energy is a viable option for job creation.
