Who’s on the show to discuss nuclear energy?
Tune in Monday, Wednesday and Friday on KBZNZ Talk Radio at 10am, PST. There are many sides to the debate on nuclear energy to supply our electricity needs. Many are concerned about reducing carbon emissions, our nations energy security, the fluctuation of electricity pricing, and still others jobs. Does nuclear energy present a viable option we should consider? If so, what challenges can be foreseen? Can we quickly and efficiently increase our nuclear energy usage? Even with more the 50% of Americans support of using it for our electricity needs can opposition still impede growth?
Throughout the month we will discuss these and other issues civilly with our guest. Today’s guest Dr. Jane LeClair, the Dean of Excelsior College in New York. Excelsior has programs educating the next generation of nuclear employees. A recognized nuclear industry insider, Dr. Jane LeClair – dean of Excelsior College’s School of Business and Technology — has been working in this field for more than 20 years. She speaks about the creative and analytical training it takes to succeed in the nuclear engineering field. Dr. LeClair has experience in both the educational requirements for nuclear plant advancement and onsite industry-level training. She can also share her insights into training the next-gen nuclear workforce, and discuss the full range and life cycle of career opportunities available in the nuclear industry.
Next we speak with Dr. Matthew Cordaro the Dean of the Townsend School of Business at Dowling College. Dr. Cordaro served previously as the first President and Chief Executive Officer of the Midwest Independent System Operator (Midwest ISO) based in Indianapolis, Indiana, the largest independent transmission system operator in the nation. During his time there the Midwest ISO included 12 transmission owners with 55,000 miles of transmission lines and 72,000 Megawatts of electric generation and controlled over 7 billion dollars in installed assets, covering 204,000 square miles, and extending into 11 states.
Previously, Dr. Cordaro was employed as President and Chief Executive Officer of Nashville Electric Service, one of the ten largest public electric utilities in the nation.
