Excelsior has programs educating the next generation of nuclear employees. A recognized nuclear industry insider, Dr. Jane LeClair – dean of Excelsior College’s School of Business and Technology — has been working in this field for more than 20 years. She speaks about the creative and analytical training it takes to succeed in the nuclear engineering field. Dr. LeClair has experience in both the educational requirements for nuclear plant advancement and onsite industry-level training. Next we speak with Dr. Matthew Cordaro the Dean of the Townsend School of Business at Dowling College. Dr. Cordaro served previously as the first President and Chief Executive Officer of the Midwest Independent System Operator (Midwest ISO) based in Indianapolis, Indiana, the largest independent transmission system operator in the nation. During his time there the Midwest ISO included 12 transmission owners with 55,000 miles of transmission lines and 72,000 Megawatts of electric generation and controlled over 7 billion dollars in installed assets, covering 204,000 square miles, and extending into 11 states.

Previously, Dr. Cordaro was employed as President and Chief Executive Officer of Nashville Electric Service, one of the ten largest public electric utilities in the nation.

In our second half hour we’ll be speaking with H. Sterling Burnett, Ph.D., one of the country’s leading authorities on energy and environmental issues.

He is the lead analyst of the National Center for Policy Analysis‘(NCPA) E-Team – one of the largest collections of energy and environmental policy experts and scientists who believe that sound science, economic prosperity and protecting the environment can go hand in hand. A recognized scholar, Burnett has written on numerous topics that affect every American, including government environmental policy, offshore drilling, global warming, endangered species, and public lands.
He has held various positions in professional and public policy organizations, including serving as a member of the Environment and Natural Resources Task Force in the Texas Comptroller’s e-Texas commission, board of directors of the Dallas Woods and Water Conservation Club, and advisor for the American Legislative Exchange Council’s Natural Resources Task Force.
